IISc (Tata Institute) is about 35 km from the new Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) (both domestic and International).

From airport, one can take either a prepaid taxi (the counter is available near the exit of the Airport Building), or a city taxi (a queue for the same is just outside the airport building). Shuttle bus service, operated by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), runs from the airport to various areas in Bangalore city every 15 minutes. The bus to IISc is infrequent (every hour) but buses to Mekhri circle are available every 10 min. You can get down in Mekhri circle (2.5 kms from IISc) and take an auto.

Bangalore has three railway stations, out if which main railway station (also known as Bangalore City) and Cantonment Railway station are around 07 km away from IISc. The Third railway station Yeshwanthpur, though small, is nearest to IISc.

Most of the buses will drop you at or near Kempegowda bus station, next to which you'll find city bus stand. Kemegowda bus station is opposite to Bangalore City railway station.
