The main railway station in Bangalore, known as Bangalore City, is approximately 7 km from IISc. Opposite the railway station is the main bus stand, called Majestic. At the Bangalore City Railway Station, near platform number 1, pre-paid taxi and auto-rickshaw services are available. When arranging your ride, you can inform the counter personnel that your destination is the Tata Institute. An auto-rickshaw ride to IISc typically costs around INR 60. Please note that travel by auto-rickshaws between 22:00 and 06:00 hours incurs a 50% surcharge.

Alternatively, you can utilize bus services from platform number 22 at Majestic bus station, with bus route numbers 252 E, 258 C, 271 E, 273 C, 275, 99 A, and 99 B. Disembark at the TATA INSTITUTE bus stop.

Two other stations (Yeshwantpur Railway Station and Bangalore Cantontment Railway Station) also serve the Institute with similar travel options.

IISc is situated approximately 35 kilometers (22 miles) from both the domestic and international terminals of the airport. Prepaid taxi services are available at the airport, with fares to IISc around INR 800. Alternatively, shuttle bus services are available, with air-conditioned buses costing around INR 220 and more economical non-A/C buses also in operation. You can take these buses to Mekhri Circle or Malleshwaram, both of which are about 2 kilometers from IISc. From there, an auto-rickshaw ride to IISc will cost approximately INR 50. Additionally, bus #10 from the airport travels directly past IISc, where you can request a stop at “Tata Institute.”

From the main gate of IISc, proceed to register at the security post. Walk straight along Gulmohar Marg until you reach the JRD Tata Memorial Library. Turn right onto Mahogany Marg and continue until you reach Tala Marg, with the main IISc building on your left. Turn right onto Tala Marg and walk until you reach Silver Oak Marg. Turn right onto Silver Oak Marg, and in 100 meters, you will find the Department of Chemical Engineering on your right-hand side.

You can also avail IISc E-rickshaw (Transvahan) Green line and request a drop-off in front of the Chemical Engineering department.
