Evolution and Medicine
Evolutionary medicine is a field that seeks to understand the evolution of human health and disease. It applies principles of evolutionary biology to study the origins, mechanisms, and implications of health and disease in humans. The human body has evolved over millions of years to adapt to its environment, and therefore, studying human health through an evolutionary lens can provide valuable insights into the underlying causes of diseases and the development of treatments. Evolutionary medicine also explores how modern lifestyle factors, such as changes in diet and physical activity levels, may impact our health and well-being by disrupting the evolved adaptations of our bodies.
