Research Topic: Designing DNA origami-based vectors for delivering mRNA to the target site

Advisor: Rahul Roy

Research Details

Non-viral delivery vehicles, compared to viral vectors, offer controlled immunogenicity along with better biosafety and economic viability yet are prone to toxicity and poor targeting and transfection efficiency. DNA origami-based nanostructures may be functionalised as non-viral vectors offering controllable immunostimulatory traits, the virus-like spatial configuration of ligands for cell-specific targeting and activation, contamination-free and cheaper manufacturing. We aim to engineer a DNA-RNA hybrid-based nanostructure to deliver gene encoding RNAs, which could act as a next-generation gene delivery and vaccine vector.
